Why this Texas opener is different from their preseason meetings
Both clubs list this as their first regular-season game. Dallas and Houston met twice in the NBA China Games preseason in Macao on October 9 and 11, according to the Mavericks’ official preseason announcement. The October 21 meeting is instead a regular-season game at Houston’s Toyota Center, so the Macao results and broadcast arrangements should not be confused with this fixture. The official Houston schedule already lists a second Texas meeting in Dallas on October 30 as an NBA Cup West Group A game; this guide covers only the October 21 opener.
How to watch without assuming an unavailable stream
For viewers in the Rockets’ local territory, the team’s schedule names SCHN/SCHN+. The NBA’s 2026-27 viewing guide says League Pass carries games that are not available on a national platform or in the viewer’s local market. Its blackout guide explains why a local fan may need the local rights-holder instead. Open the official game page and enter your location to confirm the available feed and any subscription requirements. A game marked League Pass is not a promise of free access.
Tickets and last checks before tip-off
The NBA game page links to official ticket options, and the Rockets ticket page provides the home team’s sales route. Check current inventory, prices and terms there rather than assuming seats are on sale here. Player availability, starting lineups and the final score are not confirmed in advance. If NBA timing or viewing details change, this same game URL will be updated. For every game on October 21, see the existing daily NBA schedule.
